The Story of Arborea
Arborea Jewellery is based in Devon and offers nature-inspired ethical eco friendly jewellery. All the silver used is 100% recycled, including the necklace chains, ear scrolls and solder. The stones, are reclaimed from vintage jewellery, or from small artisan mines which are government registered and fair-trade, which have signed up to eventually return the mines to the environment. All packaging materials are 100% recycled and recyclable, and Christy only uses non-toxic and vegan-friendly tools and materials to create her pieces.
At the beginning of her career in conservation she was doing seasonal work. This resulted in empty winters and the beginnings of cabin fever. So she decided to starting making jewellery and focus on learning new skills. Working in conservation gives her a thorough understanding of how we affect our environment and what we can do to protect it. Being so focused on this in her day-to-day work it started to come across in her jewellery, buying only recycled silver and creating nature inspired designs – this is when Arborea Jewellery was born. Arborea is Latin for ‘tree’ as she's a bit of a botanist, and every animal and plant has its own Latin name.
Since then she have been finding more and more eco-friendly alternatives, in order to give customers the full sustainable experience. She believes that purchasing a piece of her jewellery is not only something you wear, but something you stand for. She has recently pledged to donate 5% of every sale to Conservation International.
Arborea Jewellery has made over 200 sales since starting in 2016, selling on 3 different platforms, with over 30 five star reviews including the well known vlogger Blue Ollis.
